| Africa holds firm to its climate change agenda |

Most people do not dispute the dire effects of climate change on human existence, but negotiations leading to the Copenhagen Climate Change talks show that for some especially the greatest emmiters of carbon (the developed countries) it is politics and show of power as usual, writes *Cornelius Adedze.
The preparatory talks towards the Copenhagen UN Summit have yet again shown the sharp divide between the rich and the poor. In the midst of all this opposition from the rich developed world, Africa one of the worst affected by climate change and largely poor continues to hold on to its demand for a good deal in Copenhagen.
From Kyoto through Bali, Bangkok to Barcelona, the signs were clear that deals aimed at fighting the negative effects of climate change would be difficult to arrive at. The developed countries with the US as their arrow-head have opposed the measures outlined in the new proposed agreement.
